Privacy Policy

BargainSniper is a free price comparison site run by one person in the UK. This page explains what data the site collects, why, how the site is paid for, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to satisfy a lawyer.

The short version

The site does not ask you to create an account, does not ask for any personal information, and does not sell data to anyone. Some links on the SIM pages are affiliate links: if you follow one and join a mobile network, we may earn a commission. You pay the same either way, and it never changes the order anything is ranked in. Advertising on the soft drinks pages is provided by Google, which sets cookies.

Two ways, and neither decides what you see first:

What is collected

Affiliate links (SIM pages)

BargainSniper is a publisher on Awin, an affiliate network. On the SIM pages, some "See" buttons go through Awin on the way to the mobile network's website. Where a network has not joined us on Awin, the link goes straight to its site with no tracking.

When you click an affiliate link, Awin records the click, the country it came from and the type of device, and sets a cookie on its own tracking domain. It may also recognise your device from its browser settings. That is how a network knows, if you sign up within the attribution period (30 days for the networks we compare), that you arrived from BargainSniper.

Awin says it does not know who you are, only that one visit started here and finished at the network. We never receive your name, contact details or browsing. What we see is totals: how many clicks, how many sign-ups, and the commission. Awin keeps tracking data for up to three years, then deletes or anonymises it. If you would rather not be tracked, go to the network's website yourself instead of using our link, or block or clear cookies. The price is the same.

Advertising

The soft drinks pages show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and, where you have consented, to personalise them based on your prior browsing. If you are in the UK or EEA you will be asked for your advertising preferences before personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice at any time. The SIM pages carry no ads.

Hosting and visit counts

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes requests, may log IP addresses briefly for security and abuse prevention, and may count visits in aggregate without cookies. See the Cloudflare privacy policy. There is no Google Analytics on this site.

Links to supermarkets and mobile networks

Supermarket links on the drinks pages point directly to Morrisons, Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s; none of them are affiliate links. SIM links point to the mobile network, directly or through Awin as described above. Once you arrive, you are on their website and their privacy policy and cookie choices apply, not this one.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive a copy of it. This site itself holds no personal data about you. Advertising data is held by Google and affiliate tracking data by Awin; both can be managed through the links above.

If you think your data has been mishandled you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
